Ascendis Health start to #BridgeThatGap
The Western Cape Road Cycling Championships saw the first time out for the  Ascendis Health youngsters in the LEADout Academy. The pilot project of this initiative is split into two regions: reaching youngsters in the Eden Cycling district and some in the Western Province/Cape Winelands districts.

The Eden Cycling Union has embraced this initiative, so much so, that they have initiated a support team around our two identified riders to create an Eden Ascendis Health team in support of nurturing and assisting  Shanique Loggerenberg and Marchal Hendricks on their journey in cycling. This sees Jessica Gerber and Corne Bence  training and racing with them aspiring to the same goals, supporting each other on the way. Jessica took home a gold medal in the Junior Women’s category this weekend!

In the Western Cape we have identified Graeme Ockhuis and Simone Faulmann as our talents who aspire to #BridgeThat Gap.
Ockhuis is no stranger to regional and national podiums as a youth rider and we believe that with the right structure he might just be able to gain a place in a major team, using the Ascendis Health platform. Simone is an accomplished junior triathlete ( 2104 SA Champ and 2nd place African Games) who has grown to love road cycling. The will and the talent is alive in her, now to start the journey into understanding the new love of two wheels. We are excited to guide her on this way!
